Jim Martin

Jim Martin has been the Associate Pastor for Missions at the Lighthouse since spring, 2001.  His responsibilities include administrative matters, missions coordination and communications, and sharing the preaching and teaching load with Pastor Daniel Baugh, Jr.  He has served on many mission trips in North America, Mexico, Eastern and Western Europe, and many countries in Southern, Eastern, and Western Africa, as well as serving as Interim Pastor in two Baptist churches in Great Britain through the American Interim Pastors, Inc. ministry (www.americaninterimpastors.com).
Jim is a Chemical Engineering graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and worked in chemical process research and process optimization and support for The Dow Chemical Company for 31 years.  He retired from Dow in 2003 to focus more sharply on missions and ministry. He is an ordained Deacon and an ordained Minister of the Gospel.
Jim's focus points in missions are evangelism and training indigenous leadership to do the work of ministry and to plant churches in their cultures.  In his interim pastorate ministry his goal is to build up and strengthen local churches and help them develop strategic plans for expanding the Kingdom of God in their locales.
Jim is married to the former Brenda Joyce Tomlinson (since 1967). They have two beautiful daughters and sons-in-law, all of whom who are very involved in ministries and missions in their own churches and communities.  They also have ten grandchildren (WARNING!! We have pictures! And new stories every week!).
